Design Milestone - 70%

As of early May 2026, the West Cameron Ave. cycle track is 70% designed. This means we’re getting a better understanding of drainage impacts, the exact sizes of the concrete buffers, and how traffic and bike signals will operate. We’re also designing ADA-compliant bus stop improvements along the corridor. We continue to keep community priorities front and center as our engineers work through all of these details. The 70% design will be thoroughly reviewed by project stakeholders like UNC-CH, NCDOT, and staff from many town departments. As a reminder, this project will build a 10-foot wide, concrete protected, cycle track on the south side of West Cameron Ave. from Merritt Mill Rd. to South Columbia St..
