May 2026 Design Update

The Bolin Creek Greenway Extension is about 50% designed. The project engineers are currently working on thoughtful design of drainage, maintaining the highest levels of ADA accessibility, and ensuring user safety and overall experience. With the recent news of NCDOT's delay of our Estes Dr Extension improvements, we are also thinking through the best way to safely and reasonably design the greenway's connection to Estes Dr. Our next step will be designing the bridge over Tanyard Branch Creek near Umstead Park. Hint: It’ll likely look very similar to many of the bridges on our existing greenways.
