Section 4F Public Notice

As the Bolin Creek Greenway Extension project moves through design and engineering, there are certain federal requirements that must be met. One of those is a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regulation, which aims to protect parks and recreation areas. Because, during construction, the Bolin Creek Greenway Extension may temporarily impact the existing Tanyard Branch Greenway and sections of Umstead Park, we must follow these guidelines. The Town’s consultant and FHWA have determined that the project will not adversely affect the existing parks and recreation facilities, and in fact, will not impact Umstead Park at all. When complete, the Bolin Creek Greenway Extension will provide additional opportunities for biking, walking, running, and rolling for everyone.


Section 4(f) requires that we notify the public and allow for public comment on the ‘de minimis’ determination. Click on this Public Notice letter for more information.
