WHAT'S HAPPENING

The Town of Chapel Hill is undertaking a transformational transit infrastructure project. The project will go from Eubanks Road to Southern Village and will bring:

  • dedicated bus lanes

  • new bus stations with popular amenities

  • reliable and more frequent buses

  • longer operating hours

  • pedestrian and cycling improvements

WHY IT’S HAPPENING

The North-South Bus Rapid Transit (NSBRT) line will improve the way people move around town, no matter how they’re traveling. It will help strengthen our community’s long-term vibrancy and aligns with the Town’s sustainability, connectivity, and safety goals.

WHO BENEFITS

EVERYONE! While the NSBRT will improve transit customer experience, it also will create a multi-modal path that connects to the town’s greenway networks. Residents will have expanded access to walk, bike, or roll to their destinations. The NSBRT stations will better support those with strollers, walkers, or wheelchairs by offering station entry at the same height as the bus doors.
