This project upgrades the existing multi-modal (pedestrian and bicycle) sidepath along Fordham Boulevard between Cleland Drive and Ridgefield Road by the Rainbow Soccer fields from asphalt to concrete and will construct a new concrete sidepath between Ridgefield Road and Willow Drive.
The project also includes additional traffic-calming systems, landscaping, and a noise reducing fence system along the path between Ridgefield Rd. and Willow Dr.
It’s a federally funded project with an original allocation in 2016 and subsequent funding in 2024. The construction bids received in 2023 were higher than the funding allowed. The Town sought additional funding, then Tropical Storm Chantal required revisions to the project design to address site damage and mitigate similar damage in the future.
